Edgar Medina is a HHMI Hanna Gray Fellow!

Twenty-one outstanding scientists. Eight years of financial support. One tight-knit community.  The Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) announced the selection of the 2020 Hanna Gray Fellows, a cohort of 21 early career researchers who are taking on some of the biggest challenges in the life sciences.  Congratulations, Edgar Medina!  Edgar is a former graduate student from our lab, who did awesome comparative genomics work on cell cycle evolution in Fungi and single-handedly developed Spizellomyces punctatus as a model Chytrid in our lab. He is currently a post-doc in the Fritz-Laylin lab (University of Massachusetts at Amherst), where he continues to study the cell biology and cytoskeleton in Chytrids.
